While Spliethoff’s Wind Department is constantly busy with the transportation of monopiles (MP), towers, blades and Concrete Work Platforms (CWPs) for on- and offshore wind projects all over the globe, BigLift operates heavy lift vessels and heavy transport vessels to handle the heavier and larger components.
With new generation wind turbines increasing in size and weight the demand for heavy lift vessels to transport these mega turbines is also increasing. BigLift regularly transports large monopiles, transition pieces (TP), jackets and offshore substations and vessels can easily handle multiple MP/TPs in a single shipment.
Wijnne Barends’ coaster vessels can be deployed for the transportation of smaller pieces of equipment on shortsea routes. A good example of excellent cooperation between Group companies Spliethoff and Wijnne Barends is the delivery of monopiles and TPs for Windpark Fryslân in the Netherlands.
